Dear CIMI Members and Friends,
The Center for Inflammation & Mucosal Immunology’s 1st Annual Mini Symposium was a great success!
A huge thanks to all members and friends who attended and helped give our inaugural Mini Symposium a fittingly excellent start! Over 60 members of CIMI and the University of Florida research community attended this, our first Mini Symposium. The symposium format represents a departure from our previous spring/summer programming but the turnout and participation show that this is a great way to bring together colleagues from across disciplines to hear the latest trends in inflammation and mucosal immunology research. The collaborations across disciplines that this symposium facilitates are key to the mission of CIMI and our effort to bolster national support and recognition for our field leading research here at the University of Florida.
Special thanks to our five principal investigators who presented their research: Laurence Morel, Ph.D., Liang Zhou, Ph.D., Stephanie Karst, Ph.D., Shahram Salek-Ardakani, Ph.D., and Dorina Avram, Ph.D.
Congratulations also to Dr. Zhou and Dr. Avram for their recent appointments to the University of Florida. Dr. Zhou traveled from Chicago to be with us in order to present his research. It was a great opportunity for future colleagues to see the great work and collaborations that are possible in the future! Our thanks to Dr. Zhou for traveling to be with us, and we look forward to seeing both of their work in the years ahead.
Be sure to save the date for our next event: November 13th, 2015 is our 3rd Annual Research Retreat. We are returning to the Straughn Center for an entire day of guest presenters, a research poster contest, and opportunities for Continuing Education Units.
As always, we deeply appreciate the vital support of the leadership of the University of Florida, including Dr. Hromas and Dr. Guzick who constantly promote the highest scientific achievements of our faculty.
