Student Member Publishes in Cell Reports

PhD student Na Sun

Publication Highlight: Feb 2026

Na Sun (left), a PhD student under our director, Dr. Liang Zhou’s, laboratory, publishes her cumulative project involving a subset of ILC3s that are GATA3+ RORγt+. We are very proud of Na’s accomplishments, making major breakthroughs in gut mucosal immunology. This is a product of 5 years of hard work as a PhD student. Na will graduate in the Summer of 2026 and we know she will make major strides in her post-doctoral career.

Graphical abstract for paper titled "Tfam-mediated metabolic perturbation in RORγt+ lymphocytes impacts intestinal tissue homeostasis and promotes GATA3+RORγt+ innate lymphoid cells"

In Brief:

“Sun et al. report an indispensable role for Th2 cells in small intestine lengthening driven by tuft cell type 2 immunity and a population of GATA3+RORγt ILCs promoted by Tfam deficiency, high-fat diet, and DSS-induced gut inflammation in mice. GATA3+RORγt ILCs exhibit transcriptional and metabolic profiles distinct from that of conventional ILC3s.”
